Position Available: Administrative Coordinator
Location: University of Regina, (Saskatchewan, Canada)
Type: Part-time
Contract Period: : Permanent part-time, 20 hours a week with three month probation. Start date: August 11, 2008.
Hours of Work: 20.0 hours per week (flexibility for occasional evening and weekends). 15 hours per week must be worked in RPIRG office in cooperation with other staff to maintain a presence during operating hours (10:30AM- 4:30PM Monday-Friday). These hours are possibly extended to one evening or weekend-day a week (if requested by membership for "equality of access") Occasional weekend retreats and evening coffees with board members may be required.
Reports to: Reports to and accepts direction from the Board of Directors/Staff Designate(s)
Nature of the Position:
- Establish and maintain clear accounting procedures and documentation
- Track and record all expenses and revenues, and ensure all information is up to date.
- Taking minutes during BOD meetings and posting them on the dashboard
- Prepare regular budget expenditure reports for the Board of Directors and legal council.
- With the assistance of the board, establish clear and effective policy for all areas of organization
- Responsible for the organization of board meetings, including preparing agenda, taking and typing minutes, compiling information for decision making, etc.
- Establish and maintain communication with other PIRG's, campus groups, and community groups
- Work closely with Students' Union on issues of relevance to both organizations
- Work directly with accountant and legal counsel (lawyer)
- Administer board elections.
- Keeping a knowledge of "the books" and explaining it in a way board members can understand
- Other duties as requested by the Board of Directors/Staff Designate
Knowledge of:
- Issues relevant to students and/or the community of Regina
- Working with non-profit organization
- Working with volunteers
- Administrative skills. (Including but not limited to proposal writing, budgetary items, non-profit administration and office organization)
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Computer skills
- Ability to meet deadlines with little supervision and to produce quality results
Qualifications:
- Experience working with volunteer boards
- Administratie experience
- Basic bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
